Tuition and Costume Information for Regular Yearly Classes
There is a yearly registration fee of $25 per family, due in September. Standard tuition is $50/month with one student enrolled. Additional siblings can enroll at a discounted rate. The second student is $40/month, the third is $30/month, with the family maximum capping at $120, and no additional cost for 4th or 5th siblings, etc. I know how difficult it is to keep a family budget. Thank you for all of your loyalty, support, and PATIENCE!!
Notes for 2013 - 2014 year (see full costume policy below)
YOUNGER DANCERS COSTUME POOL:
Costume fee for all young dancers (those younger than 8th grade) is $25 per year. This puts your dancer into our COSTUME POOL and insures that you have a costume to wear for all performances during the year, even if your dancer grows out of what they start in. You do NOT purchase the costume, merely rent the use of it from the POOL.
Please pay your costume fee by NOVEMBER 1 so that I can begin to purchase any extras to fill up our pool. We have an abundance of "little fish" in the pool this year, so I will have to add to the smaller costume inventory! Hooray! and thanks!
There is always some sewing and mending to be done, so if anyone has that gift and would like to help out, please let me know soon!
OLDER DANCERS COSTUME POOL:
If you are in KILDARE and have not paid the $100 fee to join the "Official School dress" (green 2 piece w/Lion cape) you will need to pay that this year. As far as I can tell, you may already all have paid this.
If you are a dancer 8th grade and above, but still a beginner or beginner 2 (Dublin, and maybe some in Tipperary) your fee is just $25 this year.
FINALLY, if any of the younger dancers have costumes at home from previous performances, PLEASE RETURN THOSE TO ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! We will need every single stitch of costuming we have to clothe our myriad of dancers!
Older dancers, no need to bring back your green school dress or your solo dress if you have one that fits.
Kelly Irish Dancers Costume Pool Policy Sheet
(If you would like this info in printed form, you may download the pdf above and print for your reference.)
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU DO NOT PURCHASE THE COSTUMES. THEY REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF THE
KELLY IRISH DANCERS, AND ARE TO BE RETURNED WHEN YOUR STUDENT IS NO LONGER DANCING WITH
US. THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO MAKE THIS IRISH DANCE OPPORTUNITY POSSIBLE! We try hard to use
and re-use and recycle every costume in our studio. All fees are subject to change as needed, keeping in
mind that our goal is to keep Irish Dancing affordable for your family, while still maintaining a
professional appearance for our dancers.
Costume Pool fees are as follows:
*Pre-Beginner Level and New Beginners - $25 This is the fee for your first year of dance.
*In Your 2nd Year of Dance - $25 (You will probably use one of our original purple or green school
*In Your 3rd Year of Dance - $100 (BOYS have a lower fee of $50 at this point) You have 2 years to
save/plan for this higher fee. This fee will ensure that there is an Official Green Kelly Irish
Dancers Uniform available to your dancer for the remainder of the years you will dance with our studio.
Keep in mind that many dance studios spend $80-90 each year on a costume that students only use
*Each year after your 3rd year of dance, we ask a $25 renewal fee or $20 for boys. This enables us to
keep costumes repaired, replaced, and add to inventory as needed. If you are not sure where your family
fits in this new plan, feel free to ask me!
The dress fabric is 100% polyester! And therefore, is MACHINE WASHABLE. Please only wash when truly
necessary. Turn the uniform inside out, wash on gentle cycle w/cold water and Woolite. Drip dry only.
It probably won’t need ironing. Wash the blue T shirt in COLD water to avoid fading.
OTHER ITEMS YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE FOR YOUR DANCER:
*BLACK TIGHTS (always have a spare pair on hand in case of runs or holes)
*BLACK BRIEFS , BLOOMERS, OR DANCE SHORTS (very short)
*Kelly green or dark green tank top for SENIOR DANCERS to wear under Bodice of school dress.
*Black ballet slippers are OK for pre-beginner dancers only. ALL OTHERS SHOULD HAVE THE CORRECT
IRISH DANCE SHOES.
*Young Dancers (LIMERICK, CORK, KILKENNY) will also wear POODLE SOCKS occasionally. You can find
these online. (For girls only.)
BOYS – black pants and long sleeve white shirt. If other shirts are planned, we will let you know.
Dance Class Attire
DANCE CLASS ATTIRE: Yoga pants are great! Shorts with black tights also work well with a T-shirt, and wear a warm-up jacket if necessary. The building is chilly in the winter! Irish dance soft shoes are available on the web. See the Dance Shoes page for details. Beginners do not need hard shoes right away. If you did hard shoe last year, you will be doing it again this year.
Official K.I.D. Wear
The embroidered hoodie is $50, and only a limited number are available, in adult small only. T-shirts are $15 and the current available shirt is navy blue with the gold K.I.D lions and logo, adult small only.
If you have a special talent or skill you would like to barter for classes, please speak to me about it! We are eager to help our families out during these tough economic times. I really need a full time, experienced seamstress to take over costuming for me! It is becoming more than I can handle! Anyone interested? We can also use experienced helpers on the construction projects (see Carl).
Special thanks to Emily Tate for her hours of sewing over the years and her embroidery expertise in designing the new school dresses!
